My answer to Mrs.Obiko (Calgary Herald- July 2006)

I feel on my duty and an obligation to the Canadian readers of that Newspaper (Calgary Herald) to let all of them to know the real truth and do not keep with the ideas of that bunch and string of lies about Venezuelan Government written by you.. What I am referring to is to your   Calgary Herald article of Friday, July 7th, 2006, page E5. One of the things I have to tell you is that as you ought to know as a newspaper worker or journalist Venezuela was one of the largest oil producer and exporter in the world until 1998. Do you know that former PDVSA had in its project to be producing in 2006 , 6 millions barrel per day ?  And in fact you should know  ( it seems to be you believe in the official statistics which are not real but, just fictitious) that the new pdvsa (pptsa) is not producing more than 1,5 millions of barrel per day. That  pptsa has failed in such a way that Venezuela is buying 100,000 barrels of Russian crude per day. Also the new pdvsa (pptsa) is buying oil from Mexico and Canada to supply CITGO’s  Lamont Refinery in the U.S. As you must know Venezuela recently agreed to buy a variety of armaments from Russia including  100,000 Kalashnikov rifles, Sukhoi jet fighter planes, Antonov airplanes, and 33 OAO Kazan helicopters  to control and kill the Venezuelan people who do not agree with communism and to attack any Democratic Gov in our Continent. You should know as a well informed journalist  that one of the many signs of troubles in the poor maintenance of pptsa facilities  is that the 54,000 barrel-per day cat cracker at El Palito refinery in eastern Venezuela is out of service because of a “ LEAK”.  You also ought to know that Venezuela has problems with its gasoline supply.  It is common to see long lines of cars at gas stations in greater Caracas and western and eastern Venezuela. Are the queues symptomatic of a greater malaise?. The problem is that it is almost impossible to know exactly what is going on behind the closed doors of Venezuela’s state-owned oil company, pptsa. Venezuela has 1,800 gas stations in the country , 900 of which bear pptsa’s logo, although it only owns about 150 of them. The remaining stations are privately owned. Former employees and experts have analyzed the situation and have come to the conclusion that there are three potential factors affecting gasoline distribution in the world’s  fifth-largest oil exporter. The first problem is the constraints faced by gas station operators, who are allowed very narrow  profit margins provided to the them by pptsa,  The minister of energy and oil and president of pptsa rafael ramirez ( international terrorist’s < carlos > =  carlos ilich Ramirez sanchez = brother, having live sentence in France’s prison-jail )  , just announced larger margins.  But it’s not clear if his remarks are rhetoric or reality. Specially as we know how those government people keep lying all the time and trying to deceive the Venezuelan people, but we do not believe any word  they say.  Meanwhile, gas stations have to maintain a 24 to 48 hour inventory, which can mean that they don’t have enough fuel for their daily sales. A sinister addendum is that many stations have not received license renewals, and that has meant further pressure on owners to close or sell their property- usually to the military or people related to the regime   The second problem is transportation and distribution. Gasoline distributors, who were president hugo chavez ‘s  strongest allies during the 2002-2003 massive strike of the national oil industry , are now angry with the regime. Many of the obsolete and poorly maintained gasoline  tankers , which the government gave to the cooperative without providing  the necessary training and resources, are now inoperative. Although the cooperatives have received 18 new trucks , there are only 30 in the entire country that are in working order.  The thirds and perhaps the most important problem has to do with pptsa’s production. Venezuelan refineries are not working to full capacity. Accidents and power outrages happen daily – causing delays and poor gasoline supplies. So, dear journalist what you described in the mentioned article is a Fantasy Island when the fact is that Venezuela since 1999 up to date has been converted in the land of terror, insecurity, uncertainty, lack of safety, disaster, delinquency, corruption, and whatever. My doubt is either you were very well paid by the Venezuelan government to write all those lying and false or you were deceived . Who knows it ? ¡.   Did you know that the USA State Department ordered to check  very deeply and profoundly to all those venezuelan  passport holders due that there are many syrian, iraqui, hamas, hezbollah, alqaida, farc, eln, castristas-cuban, terrorists with those passports issued by the chavez’s government as Venezuelan without being it. You must know as a journalist that supposedly you are, that Democracy means, Liberty, Freedom, Powers autonomy, and others. In Venezuela there is only one power: the dictator. So, how come could you write what you wrote ? That is a very unfortunately and sad article which goes against the truth.  Do you know that the Venezuelan genocide following instructions from the Cuban assassin made a fraud during the August 15th  referendum.?  Do you know that the venezuelan electoral office (cne)  has registered about non-existing 5 million people to vote for chavez on the next elections, there are  30.000 people who are supposedly born in during the 19th century  in order to vote for chavez ?. Do you know there are more than one million deaths registered to vote for the  tyrant or dictator or whatever. ?  If you really are a honest journalist so your newspaper you ought to publish this written to let the readers know the truth and not keeping deceived since chavez pays billions in the whole world to have a medium publicity and propaganda at his favor. Do you know that every country of the world condemn the terrorism and Venezuelan chavez government support it.? So, hope you’ll make clear that article you wrote  and the next time be sure where you get the information from or unless…….?¿?¿?...............................................................................
Do you know that chavez has managed  US$ 300 billion which belong to the Venezuelan people and more than 80 % of our population are behind the line of poverty ? .  Do you know that there are around 3 million Venezuelan without housing (dwelling)  and chavez , with our money, is building houses and roads in Cuba, Bolivia, Uruguay, Argentina, Brasil, The associate Caribbean Countries, and so forth ?. Do you know that in the Venezuelan hospitals there are not  supplies such as cotton, gaze, alcohol, medicines, and others. While chavez is supplying with our money all those needs to those countries which I just  mentioned ?
What I regret is that since my first language is Spanish as a Venezuelan that I am  and not English as  a second language I could be more understandable, comprehensive , explicit and very much clearer in my own language.  There are a lot of more things to tell you about the disaster in the last 8 years that our suffered Country is being victim of but I would have to write a  complete  book to explain more of that.  My   regards.  Roberto Martin .
